VMS - Configuration

Here you customize VMS operation to your needs. In every tab, you must click Apply to save changes.

Local Configuration

Basic Configuration tab

Enable any or all of the following: 

  • Auto Startup: VMS launches when the computer startswhen the computer starts.

  • Auto Login: Log in automatically when launching VMS.

  • Trigger audio when the node is offline: An audio alert sounds when a node is offline.

  • Show tips when the node is offline: A pop up warns when a node is offline.

  • Substream display of new view:When switching to a new view, it displays at substream settings.

  • Indicate whether the decoding resource exceeds the limit:Dispolasy a pop-up when there is too much data to process.

  • Show device name on E-Map: Improves usability of the E-Map feature.

  • Verify the password before exiting the program:A password is required to exit VMS.

  • Sound Loop: Alarm sounds repeat on a loop until manually stopped.

  • Decoding Mode: Soft decoding or hardware decoding is optional. When the graphics card doesn’t support hardware decoding, select “Soft Decoding” so the CPU can handle video decoding.

  • Video Decoding Rules: Choose whether the video specs or channel clarity is more important.

  • Language: Select your preferred interface.

  • Temperature Unit: Choose Celsius or Fahrenheit.

  • Time Display Format: Select your preference.

Device List tab

This customizes which data displays on your channels.

  • Full name display for DVR/NVR’s channels: If enabled, the recorder’s listing in the resource tree shows the recorder name and the channel name. If disabled, only the channel name shows.

  • Resource tree automatically expands: Shows the full tree rather than a collapsed one.

  • Show alarm state for the device: Displays the alarm state in the monitoring point list.

  • Resource tree sorting rules: Choose your preference.

Record and Snapshot Setting tab

Here you configure your recording settings. Designate the folders where you want to save recordings, snapshots, and backup files. Also select the backup file format, how many snapshots to save in a file, and the maximum file size.

Alarm Sound tab

Enable the audio if desired, then select the sources for each notification sound.

Click the folder to open a standard browser to look for your audio file, and click the speaker icon to play the file.

Alarm View Setting tab

Here you can set the VMS to display a pop up when an alarm is triggered.

You can set it to open at fullscreen (and if so, designate which monitor to use).

Choose whether you want the pop-up to close automatically (after a time you designate) or only when closed manually.

Finally, set how many alarm screen can be active at once (1×1 through 4×4).

Overload Setting tab

This system supports CPU and memory overload protection. When the system overloads, the monitor client will restrict new live view and playback operations, and the overload warning pops up.

Set the limit of CPU and memory use that triggers overload.

OSD Position Setting Tab

Drag the OSD slider to your desired position.

Server Configuration

System Setting tab

Device Time Correction: This syncs the VMS with your computer every two hours.

Synchronize Time Zone: This sets your system to that of the OvrC site.

Synchronize Platform Time: Immediately syncs the VMS time with the computer it's running on.

Service fault determination time: When a server failure exceeds this period of time, it is considered offline, and the spare server takes over.

Log Retention Time: How long logs are stored before deletion.

Alarm Setting tab

Alarm Preview Using Third Stream: When an alarm pops up, this displays the third stream in the channel.

Hide Alarms Beyond the Alarm Linkage Schedule: Alarm pop-ups do not display outside of the alarm linkage schedule.

Reporting interval for the same alarm: When activated, activated alarms do not send additional notifications until teh time designated has elapsed. Click the Select Associated Alarm Type button to open a dialog where you select which alarm types) this applies to .

Standard NVR alarm receiving options: Select whether to receive an alert or snapshot when an alarm is triggered.

Audio Uploading Setting tab

Click Add to open a file upload dialog.

Click the folder icon to browse and choose the audio file to upload. Enter a name for that audio snippet. After the audio is uploaded successfully, click the speaker icon to listen to it.

Pro Tip: Audio files must be WAV files, mono, no larger than 2MB, 16-bit, sample rate no larger than 16kHz.

Login OvrC

Here you enter the OvrC Connect credentials of the system you wish view. You can click Logout for security, or to switch to a different system.
